Turbo removal help

Hello

I've got the wonderful turbo rattle and next summer i was planning to remove them my self and send them to get reconditioned. Does anyone know of a good removal guide which i can read up on so i'm prepared as want the car off the road for the minimum amount of time with out spending a fortune on a garage to do it.

Thanks
Ross

I found it very easy to just pull the motor out from the top with a cherry picker (engine hoist). Took just around 6 hours by myself including organizing parts/bolts in labeled bags and clean up time. Really isn't much of a task to pull our motors. And with the added effort of pulling the motor, you can replace nearly all of your gaskets with ease (Since you might as well while its out) and give it a good clean before you put it back in.

Just be sure to have a full good quality Torx set from 5mm to 60mm and some good extensions/6point and 12point and reverse torx bits.

Thanks for the guides, so either its subframe removal and drop the turbos out the bottom or pull the whole engine out of the top. I've read guides which remove the inlet system and tilt the engine up right and pull the turbos out the top. I guess there are many ways of doing it.

Thanks for the guid Turbo_power4ever.

Well its a fault with the original design from Toyota so new turbos could have the same issue a few miles down the line. But in the UK a company called Turbo Dynamics do a full recondition of the turbos and replace the waste gate with a appropriate designed part. Its around £500 + removal and reinstall.

Merry Christmas to all yesterday.
