2007 BMW 335i oil leak and 30ff code??
Hello all,
I have recently changed my valve cover gasket as I noticed oil was leaking from it. All went well with that. I cleaned all the oil off the heat shield pan and soon began to start smelling oil again. I was looking around and when looking through the manifold areas onto the side of the engine I can see what looks to be oil all around the side of the engine. Is this more then likely from the valve cover gasket and never cleaning it off? My next concern is whenever I get on my car in 2nd or 3rd around the high rpms 5,500-7000k I sometimes get a half engine light. I have read the code and it is a 30ff code. Is this likely to be boost lines or something else. Thank you for all the help and happy holidays |

Valve cover had already been changed, no more leak is occurring on the metal heat shield. I was thinking the oil is old from leaking valve cover previously but did not know if there were any other gaskets down there that could be bad.

I would clean the engine bay out and start fresh. That way its easier to trace the leak.
30ff could be vacuum lines, diverters, boost solenoids, vacuum canisters. A smoke test is your best option. |

Looking around in my engine bay just to see if I can find anything obvious and I find this tube connected to nothing......not sure what it's supposed to be connected to or if it can even be connected to my 30ff codes. Here's some pictures if anyone could help me identify this.

Replaced that hose to where it was supposed to be....didn't help my 30ff. All lines look good but guess I'm going to have to replace them all and see what happens then

^Replaced those earlier and still getting 30ff code. Even when I disconnect the vacuum connector I got a sucking air sound right after turning the car off.
