I kerbed the OSF alloy today on my E91 MSPORT.
It also near wrecked the tyre protector rim around the edge.
Wheels are some after market 19 inch CSL style 359 with budget tyres 235/35/19 all around that were on the car when I bought it.

I like the wheels but the tyres on there make them vunerable to kerbing so I either replace them with some better quality larger size tyres to protect the rim or go back to OEM wheels, if I can't get the tyres to fit in the wheel arch.

Any ideas on the maximum tyre I could get in the arch without rubbing them with these wheels?

The tyre sizes seem OK id go with a different style that has a rim protector

what width are the rims?

That bit I'm not sure of as its not obvious from the front of the wheel. I'd probably have to get the wheel off or up on a ramp to see it.

yeh you'll need to take them off, will be stamped on the insides.

Usually they are staggered, with wider wheels on the rear, and thus usually wider tyres on the rear as well.

Go Michelin Pilot Super Sport, non run flat, same size that you have front if rim is 8-9" wide, 255-275 rear depending on rim size. Typically rear rims are 8.5-9.5":wide. Stock is 8" front, 8.5 rear. I have 8.5" front, 9.5" rear. Try to get rim width and offset.

Thank you. The wheels are the same size front and rear as they are aftermarket.
May pop to a tyre fitters tomorrow and ask what sizes I can go to.
I don't want to swap them for OEM's (the BBS Motorsport off the 320si are tempting though) at the moment as a refurb and good tyres would be cheaper.

A lot of aftermarket wheels retain the different sizes front and rear.

That doesn't guarantee anything.

If you find out the widths we can suggest a tyre size, without knowing we can't.

If they're staggered I'd stick with the standard fit 225/255, but if they're not then 235 might be the best compromise where a 225 would be too much stretch and a 255 just too expensive/heavy steering.

They won't be anything crazy wide, probably a 9.5" rear max, which is what I run with a 255. Looks fine and is protected by the rim protector.

Lol I protect the rim with the tires. Tires are cheap. Rims expensive. I run 275 rear on my 9.5 wide.

That's great if you want a meaty look, but I'd actually say it's more expensive to do that if the only reason you're doing it is so you can bounce off kerbs.

Tires aren't much more if you upsize, have had one flat in 226k on this car, not from a sidewall issue, no curb rash, and I'm looking to go 305s rear as I should be close to 700hp by next week.

FWIW Im running 235/265 R18 on my lowered E91 330D but with same ratio as the standard 225/255 . Much better IMO - much less rear wheel spin. Overall diameter is slightly larger and so wheel arches look more filled - more of a Nascar look than stretched pimp mobile which i prefer
