Auto boot Opening

Hey guys,

Came across this and thought others here would be interested!

Really cool feature to add (relatively cheaply) for endless amounts of added convenience.

I haven't contacted the seller for a group buy price yet, but would gather numbers first. The RRP for a single unit is ~$250.

If interested, put your name down below!

Wowsers. How many angles can he shoot of his boot opening...?

So from what I could see it's just a pair of overgassed struts that force your boot open as soon as it unlatches?

Yeah super annoying vid!

The kit retains your stock strut, and comes with an installation kit of parts so that you can adjust the strength of the springs via an adjustable spring holder - This spring holder is what gives the boot the additional 'pop' to open the boot automatically once the button is pressed.

See pic below of what it comes with..

I'm also trying to find out how much 'extra' force is required to close the boot.

If it requires me to place my hand on the actual boot lid (where my Performance spolier is situated) to press down, all bets are off - but it's unfortunately looking this way..

Really, really, really stupid question, but since I haven't seen my car or key in over six months and won't see her for two more months, how does the boot open? Does our key have a boot button? Is there a boot release button in the cabin? I do remember the button above the licence plate

Haha, yes both mate. The FOB has a boot unlock button and there's also a boot release button in cabin on top of the bonnet release.

The manufacturer has advised that it does require an additional push down to close the boot lid, the first few weeks are the worst as the springs are new...

However, now he is able to close the boot lid with just using the inner handles as I mentioned.

Yeah you will likely have to reef down hard and quickly on the inner boot handle. Can't be that bad

The more i think about it, the more i dislike this spring option.

The seller has advised it took 6 months for it to set in, with accessing the boot 4 times a day.. I don't even drive the car that amount in 2 weeks, yet alone accessing the boot!

I'd prefer an adjustable system where you can loosen/tighten the spring rate so it can close per normal from the get go... Then tighten the spring rate as required as it get older - This would be a much better system!

Haha exactly my thoughts.

I would be more inclined to change the struts than add some ugly springs etc to the setup if I wanted my boot to do this...

Companies are out there that rebuild your boot/bonnet struts, and I know in my jdm days you could buy replacement struts for cf boots/bonnets (since they're lighter the struts are effectively mismatched)
