Rear Screen heater

Mornin Guys and Gals,

My rear screen has stopped working and on these damp mornings i need to have it working. Yes checked the fuse is OK, and nothing has been added/changed on the car.

I read on here sometime ago, that if the battery is low/on the way out/weak, that certain electrical items will stop working to save the battery, is the rear screen heater one of these said items?

I do think my Battery is on the way out as it is weak on turn over and it will only run the auxiliaries for about a minute before i get the warning (Engine off).

So it is on my list to change, which leads me to my second question.

On replacement (Going for a Bosch performance with 5 yr warranty) of the battery do i have to get something re-programmed? can the Carly App do this?

Thanks for you incoming answers guys

Happy New year to one and all.

Steve

Yes my rear screen stopped working when my battery was on its way out.

I replaced it with a same spec battery and registered the new battery with carly.

Thank you Sir, am i right in thinking that once the new battery went in the rear screen started to work again?

Yes carly can register your new battery as well as change the charging map depending on the battery style and output, i.e. AGM to lead acid

Yes everything started working again, stop/start, rear screen and my radio clock wouldn't reset every 2 weeks.

It went to BMW 3 times for other things and at the same time they kept saying the battery was ok because the computer said so and I needed to do longer trips, ended up replacing the battery myself and has been fine ever since.

Interestingly, my heated screen and seats worked perfectly when my battery was dying. However, the clocks would forget the time 5 minutes after every journey regardless of distance, the welcome lights stopped working and the car threw an "instrument cluster" error permanently until the battery was replaced.
