Check engine light .... ALL O2 sensors

Keeping it short.. hope to get some insight


2009 328i x Drive 84000 km

Check engine light came on... car idles and drives fine

...had it diagnosed at midas

Multiple codes all to do with O2 sensor... all 4 sensors to be exact


Service person was dumbfounded on how low KM and ALL 4 sensors triggering a check
Engine light...


Don't want to take it to the STEALERSHIP until I have to...

I'd clear the codes, run a tank of good tier 1 gas (Shell) though it and see of the codes come back.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Agreed, clear the codes and have them read again as soon as you get an error light. You might want to try a different mechanic as well, unless you've been to this midas for engine repair before and know they get it right every time.

Even my most trusted independent mechanic sometimes gives me a diagnosis that I know can't be right. Usually he and I can agree to check again to verify.

If you do get the same error, it could be a wiring short issue rather than a set of failed 02 sensors.
