Huge hole in exhaust pipe BEFORE cats, what are my options?

I hit a concrete stub in an old parking lot a few hours ago.

I stopped when to see what was up and when I got back in, I was high centered.

I got the car off and up on jack stands. Damage in minimal but there is a huge hole in my left exhaust pipe before the car. My 335i now sounds like a ricer.

What are my options? I have to leave for school on the 19th so time is ticking. OEM will cost me at least $1500.

Thanks.

Search around for stock exhausts locally, i am sure someone has one sitting around. ~$100-200 is what i would pay. Or obviously a new aftermarket exhaust is an option as well. Not sure what is around these days.

Also, i am sure a fabrication shop can patch that up, but the labor for that might not worth it, depending.

If you wanted to go aftermarket you can pick up borla mid pipes.

Only problem is they require their cat back exhaust. Unless you wanted to bring them to a shop to be modified.

Another option is just to go to a local exhaust shop and have them cut and weld a piece of pipe in. Shouldn't cost more then $100 or so. If you have catless downpipes they may not work on your car though.

It depends on what you want. There are plenty of upgrades available. If you want stock, just have an exhaust shop cut that piece out and weld in a new one. Shouldn't be more than $50. I wouldn't buy a new (or used) oem exhaust just for that. No one will ever see where a 4 inch piece of tubing was replaced.

You can also claim insurance and get an all new replacement if you absolutely had to, but you should probobly avoid that if a muffler shop can simply cut and weld a new peice.

Like others have said, an exhaust shop should be able to repair that cheaply and quickly.

I called a muffler shop that had a google review which said they worked on a 335i before. I had to leave a message. Found the guy who posted the review on FB and I sent him a message. Still waiting.

Doesn't really matter if they've worked on bmw before. A pipe is a pipe. Just look for the place with the most reviews/cars out front.

Any exhaust shop can weld in the pipe, doesn't need to be BMW specific.

The damage couldnt be in a better spot. Like everyone said. Any exhaust shop, like Meineke, can cut out the damaged section and weld in a new piece. Done. No more than $100

3 options

Go to any exhaust show and they can fix it probably for about $100

Put a stock exhaust on Craig's list. $100-200

Upgrade to a aftermarket exhaust. $500-$1500.

Took the shop 2 hours to complete. Most of that was me waiting on the guy in front of me.

$101.60

No a high end job but works for me since I am short on time. I learned today that my next job should in Texas so I can tackle a new exhaust there.
