Do you have a part number or description of the LED AE bulbs you used? Are they these:

Hrm... green PCB, 4350K Color....
We've developed our own bulb similar to this, we'll have it in a couple of weeks. Testing is done, it's in production now.

Sit tight

Thanks for the photo reference, I think I may just go with the SAE Depo projectors rather than the Euro spec versions now. I dont mind the amber and would prefer no dead spots. Where did you pick up the SAE spec projectors and HID ballasts?

I wanted to post here and edit a statement I made about the SAE P90s. Tonight I did see a dark spot on the beam pattern, just like the euros. It makes sense as they are both manufactured by the same company and probably use almost all the same parts.

However, the dark spot doesn't seem as prominent as the euros for some reason, it took me a while to notice it. I will take a pic of the car in front of a white garage and that may bring it out more. It's also possible that the pic is a bit overexposed and the shutter stayed open too long, therefore it let too much light on the image and the light bled over and covered up the dead spot. But like I mentioned, it doesn't seem as noticeable as the euro versions for some reason.

I think the reason I didn't notice it was that I was blinded by the even light pattern of the HID lamps

For anyone coming across this thread and deciding to get these (like i did) i just thought i'd let you know it can be done easier, cheaper and better these days.

I managed to fit the ballast inside the headlights so there's no cables coming out the back, and no need to drill a hole in the back cover. Also they're canbus error free so no need to code out anything, they were completely plug and play. Although in US you might still want to code out the amber sidemarkers. These are the ones i got:-

Also i replaced the AE bulbs with high power dual side facing T5 led's which make the AE's look like a complete ring rather than 4 points of light. They're not as bright as the replacement 60 led rings, but are far cheaper and no need to bake open the headlights. They're just visible in bright sunlight, but very noticable in cloudy midday light, and at night they are very bright white and still highly visible when the headlights are on. Also they're canbus error free so again no coding needed. These are the ones:-

And if you need the headlights and you're in Europe, i got them from this listing, with very cheap, extremely fast delivery (from Germany to UK in 3 days!):-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3804424285...84.m1439.l2649

Don't forget to make an offer, he accepted 210 euros from me!

!
Don't the ballast get really hot? I could be wrong, but don't think I'd put them in a tiny enclosed space, even if there were nothing else in that space generating heat.

I think they should be fine, i had them in my halogen units for a month with no problems. I've touched the ballasts after being on for 30 mins with the car sitting still and they are hot but didn't burn so i'd say maybe 50 - 60 degrees C, so shouldn't melt the headlights. Especially as we all know they can take over 100 degrees C in an oven!

And you mentioned the rings (although that part hasn't shown in the thread ) Yes the Fishcake and orion v2 rings are better, but cost 4 times as much, and probably take alot more than 4 times as long to fit. Not to mention the problems with lenses steaming up afterwards because they're not resealed properly. Also my oven isn't even big enough to fit the headlights in.
