320i se 2006

Hi all, havnt been on here since selling my 320d almost 4 years ago now, ive just picked up a 2006 320i for the wife last week after doing a deal on her mini. Only had the car 4 days and the power steering went off, i checked the fluid, non there, so i chucked a litre in n it practically ran out as fast as I poured it in :/ havnt had it looked at yet, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what it may be? And will it have killed the pump if its ran dry??

Depends how long you drove it around with no fluid in it if the pump is damaged or not. You'll probably be ok unless you drove miles and miles.

Should be fairly obvious where its leaking on the 4 cylinder cars, the racks out infront of the engine and all the pipework is visible if you take off the intake ducting...

Its in my mates garage now and up on the lift, hes having his breakfast then going to drop the undertray. She did drive it quite a distance with no power steering though, over 10 miles :/

Its a leaking pipe apparently, and the pump seems fine, just waiting to find out which pipe and get one ordered up

Turned out after proper inspection its actually leaking from the pump, seals have gone, new one ordered, should be back on the road tomorrow, what a pig of a job to get at the pump though :/
