325d 2009 egr thermostat

Just out of curiosity my egr thermostat part number 7787870 is a bit worse for wear (small leak). My mates giving me the follwing thermostat part number 2247723.

I cant see a difference between the two apart from the one connection point which looks interchangeable?

Can I use 2247723 on a 325d and change the one connection point so that it accepts a jubilee connection?

upon closer examination the 325d thermostat is slightly longer and internally the copper/brass sensor(?) is about 5mm longer for what its worth -housing looks the same

Did replacing the EGR stat make any difference for you? My 325D (M57 engine) struggles to get over 70DegreesC and I think one of the two stats is responsible for this.

Probably best sticking to the right one, they're not that expensive.
