Rear Shocks e91
Hi guys,
Noticed my rear shock has gone on my e91 2010 320d msport. Small pool of shock oil on my drive. I've jacked the car up and it's leaking out the drivers side shock. I'm replacing both as you should Are these the right shocks ? |

That euros number crosses over to Sachs 311409.
You need 311410 for MSport. If you google for Sachs 311410 you'll find some suppliers, Amazon have them amongst others. |

Try ebay too. Demontweeks.
Bilstein B4 - 19-135052 is the part. I don't know if they are any better than Sachs. The best thing to do is go to Sachs website and find the part number and Google for it. That way the part should be right. Don't rely on Eurocarparts, they are often wrong! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bilstein-B...8AAOSw~ZdVf8wA |

I haven't done it yet, but it's a lot more clips etc to take out, as the panel that is soft in the rest of the models, is stiff in the E91, so needs to be completely removed, and it's from the part that makes the luggage cover, so not actually sure how much will actually come out in the end.

Agreed!! Its a PITA as so much needs to come out of the boot area to access the topmounts in the e91 as Digitalize says..
Took me about an hour to remove all the trim alone! |

Yeh, they're used on a whole range of cars.
If you put the number in here: https://webcat.zf.com/ You can get the full list, and it gives you the original BMW cross reference too, which is how i found that you needed the 410 rather than 409! The Bilstein options are also good, potentially better, but i imagine they also cost more! |

I've got a full set of trim tools already. Is there any torx screws holding it in? |

I think there's a torx bolt holding the luggage hooks in near the rear seats. You can see it when the boot is assembled I think.
There's definitely nothing out of the ordinary torx wise, so regular bit kits should have it. It's only seats/seat belts that have the bigger torx but I've found that isn't usually part of a kit. |

Yep. Larger Torx bolts holding luggage hooks, and also smaller t15? Self tapping screws holding side trim in next to rear speakers. The rest are just plastic push-in plugs.
The plastic covers over rear belts just unclip by pulling upwards but are very fiddly. Just remember to put it all back correctly as you dont want any rattles or squeaks. |

I think the rear hooks are T40's, which you'll get in your usually hex bit kit, the seatbelt size ones I'm meaning are T45's which come as a socket rather than just a bit as it's bigger than the standard bit.
(Might be T45 and T50, not 100%) |

Shocks were fitted yesterday thanks for all the help I wouldn't have done it without you guys. I've had the car for 2 years had a water pump, cracked alloy and these shocks in that time. Service aswell next up is front brakes in 1500 miles but doesn't seem to be going down. I only do about a 100 miles a week 12 motorway miles a day.
