Greetings,
I accidentally threw away one of my frosty plastic dome light cover ![]() I thought it was trash. Actually it does look like trash. I hate it. Anyone else thinks it looks better WITHOUT this? I've taken off the rear one as well, looks classy. I already converted to LED. Still, I tried to look on ebay for replacement ideas - perhaps a clear plastic one instead of frosty? Perhaps a frosty one can be buffed and become clear? Open to any suggestions. But I'm missing one of them. cheers! |

I think it's better without it, it's chromed out and all that. But I bought the 24 LED upgrade and fits snug there, do I trust it? Not so much, give or take I put it back on. Doesn't look as clean, but at least I know it's not going to fall at any given moment. If I'm not mistaken the front and the rear cover is the same (I'm like 70% sure so someone correct me if I'm wrong) but if you want to cover shipping (I've never sent anything out to Canada before) I have a spare that if I can send it via bubble envelope and it's under $10 then I'll just give it to you bud. I might be able to ship today too if you get back with me on time.

Yes it does fit in front and in the back. And yes, it look better without it. But I am looking for even better. I'm going to find a similar frosty plastic to test polishing techniques - hoping to make it clear. Will post results if sucessful of course. Sending PM ![]() |

Further research:
The dome plastic cover is frosted acrylic. It is frosted to diffuse the light so buffing it will change the light distribution in the car. Being frosted also helps prevent awkward reflections distracting the driver. If you choose to do this anyway, plastic restoration products (I found old floor varnish repair paste) and a buffer wheel can produce great results - based on my quick tests. Shiny! But because of the aforementionned reasons I'm still on the fence. There's no going back after this mod! |
