INPA newbie,need help!___2008 335i

Hello everybody, long-time BMW owner, DIY guy, but I've never jumped into the world of INPA and coding my own car. I need to replace my battery and I know it needs to be registered to the car. Can INPA do this job? I'd rather invest on my own tools than pay some shop an overinflated fee for a simple job.

I'm VERY SORRY for clogging up the forum with this request--I've done a search and found lots of threads but none that I can locate explain clearly the exact process and items needed from scratch. I'm sure it's on here somewhere so can someone simply link me over to it?

Here's the catch--I'm a Mac guy, I have a MacPro laptop, no Windows machine here. I do own a current Android smartphone (LG V10) and would prefer to use that if possible, if no software is available for Mac.

I need to know which cable and software I would need to begin coding my car.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Update: I have a ELM 327 WIFI adapter, and the Android phone. Seems Carly might be a solution, but the full version seems a bit pricey, with battery registration a $15 in-app additional purchase.

Thoughts?

Best option,
Install Windows 10 on a USB3 stick
Plug into Mac, boot, install BMW tools..

Now you have a fully working Windows Install you can boot off a USB stick as needed. No other stuff touched!

i have a mac too. you will need to download VMWARE Fusion and install windows XP. INPA is easiest to install on WinXP.
in inpa there is an option to register the new battery. its pretty straight forward.
i can upload VMWare fusion and inpa setup files to dropbox if you like.

Guys,
Thanks so much for the ideas. I actually went and bought Carly for BMW for my iPod touch. I already had a WIFI OBD II connector.

Really simple this way. The Apple app price is about $10 less than the Android Play Store version. Piece of cake, battery is registered--even though battery registration requires another $10 in-app purchase. :-(

Thanks again,
Greg

I'm in Killeen (stationed at Ft. Hood) but if you ever need coding and are in the area, shoot me a PM and I'll do it for free.

Use bmwlogger, it's free and takes a few minutes to register the new battery. You'll need a k+dcan cable as well

Edit: didn't see you successfully coded it, congrats

Firstly, thanks for your service! I'm good so far with the Carly app for iPhone, but thanks much for the offer. Stay safe, sir.
