New 335d owner
I recently purchased a high mile 335d to use as my daily commuter. I had a 2010 VW Jetta sport wagon that I did the Malone stage 2/ DSG tune,it was a nice, fun car but I missed being in a BMW. My wife's daily is a 35D and it was time to get back in a BMW as well. It's a 2009, has the premium and cold weather package, navigation, satellite & HD radio etc.
I purchased the car in upstate NY and while driving it home it was obvious the car had a few issues. It appears the previous owner had a "local" shop do much of the repairs and frankly, either performed incorrectly or they just didn't do them. "carbon cleaned the intake" & "transmission filter/fluids" etc which do not appear to have been done. Or again, incorrectly performed. I know the tranmsission was significantly low on AFT fluid, which was causing harsh/ erratic shift during the 650 mile trip back along with a few injector codes and rough ride/ misfiring and a cylinder 6 glow plug code. I did manage to average 39.2MPG on the return trip but, I knew had a bit of work ahead of me... The first thing I decided to do was the CBU. I borrowed my buddy's N54 walnut blaster and quickly realized they are different. I tried to order the correct wand and port adapters from Bavarian autowerks but was unable due to backorder. So, I decided to just go ahead and do it with what I had. I used a bore scope to ensure each port/ valve was crystal clean ![]() I've done the following repairs/ modifications since finishing the CBU cleaning... -Glow plug module -Cyl 6 glow plug -Forge "red hose" upgrade -Intake manifold cleaned (machine shop) -Intercooler cleaned (machine shop) -ST coil over suspension -F&R rotors/pads -Full ABC delete -Fuel filter -OEM fuel pump -Apex EC-7 staggered wheels with 275/35/18 rear tires. -Diff fluid changed to Amsoil w/Archoil 9100 -Rotella T6 Engine oil/ filter w/Archoil 9100) -Transmission filter/fluif (fluid filled the correct way ![]() -Ordered M-tech front bumper/ side skirts (not installed yet) -K&N air filter -Used a case of brake clean and a case of degreaser and cleaned the subframe and area around the leaking OEM red hose. So, that's what I have so far... Water injection and hybrid turbos to come soon! Last edited by 335dsleeper; 04-09-2018 at 02:54 PM.. |

With that combination from reading I know over time it will eventually clog up the SCR. However, can you give your opinion on exhaust noise with and without the SCR and also is there a noticeable difference in smoke / smell with or without the SCR? Thanks! |

Smoke isn't really any different since initial DPF delete. Other than when I got a red hose boost leak and then smoke happens for a different reason. |

Just got an awesome hook up from Jesse at Bohl Diesel. Hybrids are going in sooner than expected!!!
I'm shooting for 500whp on hybrids. If I don't get there with hybrids, I'll add a lil spray. |

Water injection controller arrived today. Hope to have the primary WI system installed this weekend. Ordered new rear wheel bearings too, going to try and install them this week too.
Might get a before hybrid baseline dyno run in this week. Last edited by 335dsleeper; 01-30-2016 at 05:56 PM.. |
