Anyone messing with nitrous?
Always been curious about nitrous on a diesel, it lends itself to it compared to gas, no stoichiometric (air fuel) ratio to really be concerned about...(still chance of blowing up engines but it isn't as fussy as a gas pot) Besides nitrous can help improve burn and drop engine temps on higher hp diesels. Haven't built anything yet with nitrous in my career the D might make a good guinea pig.
After doing a few diesel builds in the past I prefer to plan first then buy parts and swap everything in one feel swoop if possible. Typically means less money invested... Still massing a pile of parts for the day I start messing with the D, just wanted to know if anyone here has played with nitrous on this engine and what there experience has been. If I do it will be a small shot 60 ish for rainy days when you need that little extra. My ultimate goal is a sleeper for the street that will eat your run of the mill newer m3,m5's and Camaro, Mustangs. Also do a lot of "spirited" driving on the highway.. A shot of nitrous would be nice when passing 5 cars uphill on a blind corner.... ![]() Mods may or may not include (wink wink) the run of the mill removal of certain power robbing products on our diesels that hurt fuel economy and make rainbows and puppy dogs come out the tail pipe... Wink wink, nudge nudge... |

Thought about it, but simply don't trust myself w/ nitrous. Working on getting some ARP head studs for our engines from ARP, been going back and forth with them for a couple of months. Main goal is to just beef up the head. Should have it wrapped up soon. Let me know if you want a set.

Here's a previous post that shows a dyno run on nitrous.
