cold start contest
http://www.idparts.com/news.php?articles_id=32
See link above. I'm not in area that would really apply to this. I have seen where some of you that live up north of border showing cold starts. Perhaps you guys have a shot at winning the $1000. Mods if this is inappropriate to be on board, delete as you see fit. |

Damn. Might have won with my diesel smart. Started in -35 C. Although, was hard to tell as it was too cold for the dash LCD to work.

You beat me. My coldest has been -25F (-32 C). It wasn't a smooth start...

Most of my vehicles would have coolant frozen solid by the time it reached either of those temps, the 335d being the only exception since it still has the factory mix in it. Usually I run about 75% water/25% coolant in mine since water transfers heat better and 20F is about the coldest it will need to survive. Pretty sure that alone disqualifies me from the contest.

I'm 20 miles from Gulf of Mexico and it hasn't gotten to 32°F/0°C for about 5 years. I jogged in 75°F weather yesterday and actually got too hot.
