Oil cooler adapter cap alternative to OFH + tstat adapter, avail for e90?
Does anyone know if this oil filter cap application exists for our cars? I had almost done a stock OFH with tstat swap and AN line adapter as my car doesn't have the OEM oil cooler... but sold the parts as I couldn't get to the job. However, once I get some time back, it would be significantly easier to use this cap with my stock thermostat-less OFH and a remote thermostat. The rest of the job still exists (lines, core, mount).
I emailed this manufacturer Ireland Engineering, but they don't make it for e90. Nor does Rally Road. Last edited by FamilyManTrackSedan; 02-07-2016 at 10:47 PM.. |

i've actually started designing a setup on my XI that wont need the factory cooler to have an oil cooler similar to the first photo. waiting on my spare cap to come in.

TGNY gets me - those of us without the factory oil cooler have a different OFH with no thermostat. This approach means I won't have to go source that OFH from a luckier person. I can use my stock thermostat-less OFH and run the lines from the cap to a remote thermostat and core. This cap needs to allow flow outward first, not just hold oil and bypass flow to the lines.
