BMS cowl filters. Water engine bay
Anybody else have this occur. Had the cowl filters in for almost a year. Anyone else have the filters and see specs of water in their engine bay?

Isn't the purpose of the cowl a secondary seal? The top of the cowl has a rubber seal along it that I imagine actually seals water and other debris out. I know there's an argument for removing it, but I suspected this would be a side effect.

It's not abnormal since there's now no seal between hood and cowl. Was this from driving in the rain? It can just be splash from water coming off your wipers and such. Not really a huge deal since the DME is sealed. I'd maybe put the engine cover back on though.

Makes me nervous, hence why I never got this mod. One time my dealer did not properly seal the back of the dme cover and if I had this mod and water got it I could have fried a second dme and who knows what else. M3 cowl looks to be the way to go.

dan, is that you....lol From what I understand the M3 Cowl will fit but it doesn't seal to the 335i hood the way it would to an M hood. You could still have an issue.

I'm almost Dan, a couple less bitches I guess.
I didn't know it doesn't seal the N54 all the way. As long as it's better than the BMS Cowl you should be okay, right? |

Been running cowl filters for a while, never seen anything like this, and I've driven through the rain plenty.

i have had those cowl filters for about a year and no issues. i haven't seen any water in my engine area. My guess is you have some other sealing issue.
