Did a quick google search and found a post saying that the GN10571 coils are for N55, whereas the GN10328 coils are for N54.

Although I don't usually trust Amazon's compatibility indicator, it is consistent with this for my car.

I just ordered 6 GN10571 from amazon for my N54 (despite amazon saying its not compatible) as one of my Bosch coils was causing a misfire on higher boost. I'm replacing them all just in case although I was thinking about taking the gamble and just replacing the one troublesome Bosch with the Delphi (which is supposedly not ideal).

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on any of the forums indicating if GN10571 or GN10328 would be better, but it looks like people have run both. I opted for GN10571 because I'd imagine its a newer design and hope they made a few improvements (since I believe it was originally designed for the S55).

Ill try to update if GN10571 works well, but will definitely report back if I have issues for some reason. Hopefully getting them in the car with new plugs by next weekend.

They are ~$30 ea. on ebay too.

It looked like they found 6 coils in the trash and shipped them to me in a plastic bag. Happened to someone else I know as well. I returned them and it took them 3 weeks to file the return when the package was delivered within 1-2 days.

Did you get a chance to install your coils? Any issues? I need new coils and I want to see which is better. Thanks

So I was able to install the new plugs and GN10571 coils. Car seemed to respond better low rpm while the car was warming up, but this could have been a placebo.

Once warmed up and pushing it a little the car was misfiring despite not throwing a code. Went back to make sure they were all seated properly, and while they were all pushed far enough down onto the spark plug, 2 out of the 6 actually had issues with the connector/lever up top (and 1 actually popped back up and loosened a bit).

There seems to be something wrong with the batch I received as the lever on top of the coils seem a lot looser than they are on my Bosch coils, as in there was definitely some play when pushing them side to side while just playing around with them outside the car. This seemed to have caused the sides of the levers to push wide and open up when connecting instead of forcing the connector into the socket. (If this doesnt make sense ill try to to post some pictures but done with messing around for today)

Anyway, I put pressure on the sides of the lever while pushing the connector in and got everything to seat properly. Even then they were much more eager to pop open than the Bosch coils. Went for another drive and more misfires.

Switched back to Bosch coils to verify it wasnt the plugs and no misfires whatsoever while running map 1. (Only got misfires on map 2 or 5 of JB4 previously with the "bad" coil but didn't test in this scenario)

While I know its not advised to mix and match coils, Im debating testing various combinations of bosch/delphi coils to see how many bad delphis there are or if there are any good ones. Although considering the issue with the connectors up top may just return and grab one replacement Bosch to avoid further headaches . Although one thing to note is that Amazon did pull the coils for a few days after my order as they received complaints apparently? This leads me to believe (and hope) it was just a bad batch.

So been putting 1 (of 6) delphi GN10571 in with my 5 supposedly good Bosch coils and been getting very slight misfires around or above 15psi. Smooth on lower boost. Am not actually getting codes with the Delphis, but feel the misfires.

I would get a code with my one Bosch that I replaced - but only at 16+psi. Going to return to amazon and just get a single Bosch replacement.

Just as an FYI - I went with the NGK plugs which are one step cooler gapped to .022 i believe, I would think that this would help with the higher boost.

Any update on this?

I am also stuck between Delphi GN10571 and GN10328 coils. I'm thinking of replacing all 6.

Just as an FYI - you should only be replacing a bad coil with a Delphi if the other 5 are Delphi brand to begin with. If you've got Bosch coils, replace with Bosch. Generally best to avoid mixing the two.

Negative, doesn't make a difference. I've run them mixed for over year with no issues.

From another forum n55 coils seem to be the way to go due to quality and metal bodies. Plus they have superseded the old parts

Quote:
As a dealer tech who changes these bloody things out sometimes twice a day,

BMW uses 3 manufacturers for their coils

Bosch
Bremi
Delphi

Most of the n51/n52s has Bosch's then by the time they started going bad we replaced them with Bremi, which consequently also sucked, and so now were sticking in the new Delphi's which are the same as the N55, used this S55. THey are the superceed number for us, so now when n51/n52/n54's have been coming in for coils We have to replace all of them with the Delphi's if there's misfires on more than 2 cyls. You can't mix and match, though sometimes i've seen guys accidentally use the new ones mixed with old and don't see any problems.

long story short

they all do the same thing and will scope similarly on a same engine comparison
use them on any n52/n51/n54/n55
Must use all or none for best results
seems to be holding up the best and support the biggest beating , no rubber insulation to crack and a full metal body.

People are starting to run S55 coils and plugs as well (plugs are bosch motorsport bmw only)

^ Thats interesting, didnt know that about the S55 coils and spark plugs.

I'm sure its only a matter of time until we're using half the S55 parts on the N54 LOL.

Someone figure out how to bolt up the stock S55 twin turbos to the N54 cylinder head and might as well use the water-to-air intercooler as well to reduce turbo lag and increase effecieny, and get rid of some parts running down to the front bumper from the engine bay...

Ahhh hopefullly soon

Do you have part numbers for the S55 coil packs and S55 spark plugs by any chance?
