Maxchip Pro on the way

Relatively new 2011 335d owner (Nov 2015 & Jan 2016 - I liked the first one so much I bought another!) and I have done a lot of searching on tuning options. I'm not a rich fellow, so best "bang for the buck" was my goal.

I settled on the Maxchip Pro and ordered it from them online - a bit of a tedious process since they are Germany-based and not in my time zone. A lot of translating of e-mails and calling and leaving voice messages on a German-language message system.

Anyway, I don't see a lot of discussion here on this specific tuner box. I will do my best to review and report some data, pre- and post-install. Hopefully this will help future shoppers.

Delivery expected next week, so data will be posted as soon as feasible after that. Thanks much.

First results

OK, VERY early into the exploration of this chiptune device, the Maxchip Pro, which I ordered from Austria (via the UK) and installed this morning.

Ran two 0-60 runs this morning before the Maxchip was installed, and managed to get a relatively poor 7.16 and 7.35. This was just on highway onramps, so a very imprecise testing methodology to be sure.

After install, and letting the car get warmed up, I ran a 6.63 on that same ramp. So that's an improvement of 7.5% over my best run this morning.

I did seem to see an improvement in MPG, even with several instances of WOT on a 20-minute drive, getting 30.9 MPG during my first test jaunt. This car, since I have had it, has averaged around 28, but time will tell if this is an anomaly or normal.

Anyway, so far, for $233 U.S., delivered in 5 days, I'm not yet suffering from buyer's remorse. More later

More info on HP and wheel spin

Looking further into my Dash Command log for today after the Maxchip installed, I see a performance result of:

385 hp @ 44 mph

In addition, for the first time since owning this car, I can get the "traction lost" dash message on dry pavement, with DTS turned ON.

I'm liking this mod so far...

Is this a plug and play unit? I'm kinda unsure how 385hp at 40mph is an accurate reading.

yes plug n play

My research on the accuracy of this OBD reader and this app is undergoing.

Max power on this engine is reached at ~4200 RPM, and I was probably about there while flooring it.

These stats are preliminary, but just want to get them out there for research/evaluation purposes.
