Is it true that on a X-drive vehicle (335xi in this case), if you have a staggered set up that it can ruin/effect the transfer case on your vehicle? Anyone have this or heard of this issue? Please advise.

Don't do it! Your car will literally explode!!
Or just search for the hundreds of threads that discuss that staggered wheels on an xdrive is fine as long as rolling diameter is within 1%.

I got same setup 235 35 275 30 conti DWS 06 and I have some minor delay or I can say hard shift from 2ND to 3Rd gear. I have no idea why, because dealer just installed recently brand new transfer case in my car, explained it that it was some hard shift for sure. They figured that when unplugged the case and all harsh and hard shifts gone. It was a reason to replace the case. Any thoughts?!

I don't know how I can link this but I have 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear on 225/40 front and 255/35 rear. I have had it for 2 summers. This winter I switch over to my stock wheels as always (17x8.5) and my transfer case just recently went bad. I will say I drive my car pretty conservatively. At this point I can't link my staggered wheels to it. But I just thought I throw it out there.

My local dealership was gonna do it for $1040 labor but when I told them I got a quote from a reputable BMW local Indy shop for $572, my SA started scaring me that it's a very difficult job to do and that indy shop will screw it up. |
