I've read 25nm + 90 degrees and I've read 40nm tensioner and 38nm pulleys.
Can someone who truly knows please state them?

the Bentley Manual Doesn't cover replacement of the tensioner or pulley; just the belt.

Hi There,

That Torque Spec I posted is Exactly from Dealer's maintenance shop.
Let's just say, I am good talker.... That's how I got them to pull it and print it.
I can talk to anyone's level.

Now if you can point me to any torque spec on any BMW, e46 and above, that says xx torque, plus a 90 degree turn or any turn for that matter.
This is not a Honda Oil filter or a ford.

A torque spec is a torque spec......period.
Also....... Since I posted that DIY.......not a single issue and I must say I have done approx 25k km since then.

Here is another test for you.
Re-torque your current Pulleys, and Tensioner bolts.
Start at 23, and keep going till it turns......slightly......now you know the spec.

Go for it Bro, follow the DIY..... You will be fine.

I want to confirm because on some applications such as my e36 head gasket repair the + 90 is used (for head bolt).
Mr Bash's diy is where I found the 40, 38nm specs. I appreciate your response!

I'm preventatively replacing tensioner and pulleys at 70k.
How on earth could this massive spring tensioner EVER fail ?!!
Maybe the pulley bearings, but not the tensioner, but the pulleys all feel new.
The old e36 hydraulic tensioner would weaken but never this type.
Feel like I wasted my money on a new tensioner, but I don't see where the tensioner pulleys are sold separately .

The tensioner is one price, and most of the time the pulley goes noisy....or shifts slightly.....inward.
Belt then is off Center and can wear faster.
The lower and upper pulleys go faster.
So replace them for sure.

Mine .....I saw the belt wobble....in and out on the upper pully.
So I just replaced them all.

Bash, I replaced the tensioner and both pulleys and there was no play, squeal, bend or anything wrong with any of them. Everything including the belt looked and felt new. I did use your torque specs, thank you. I had to remove the fan shroud to get the plastic turbo air pipe back enough to get torx socket and wrench on them.
