Did you pay £67.50 for them? You could have tried the Cotswold parts guys, they are £85 on ebay from Cotswold and with forum discounts, perhaps the price for genuine wouldn't have been far off?

Ha , yea I hear you. However these are supposed to have a thickness/density of 2200 rather than the 900 that cheaper mats have. So i'm hoping these will be of the quality that the oem bmw mats are and you get the m stitching thrown in.
Time will tell if i've just overpaid though

Ok so they arrived from Germany this morning. Well packaged.
First impressions. First looks: Exactly as per the pictures. Really quite rigid when you hold them which is good. Stitching: Very nice. A good shade of blue and red. Bright and distinctive without being too 'loud' when in the car. A more sporty but understated look in line with the understated look of BMW interiors. They make the interior appear slightly more detailed/newer than without them. Colour: Black. Not a true black however. Nor are they a grey. More a shade lighter than true black. If that makes sense. I would probably prefer them to be a true black. Shape fit: Very good. Can't see any obvious problems. Security of fit: There appear to be places on the rear of the front mat to affix fittings. None were included though. As the mats are very rigid and fit snugly, at present there doesn't seem like there will be slippage issues. Pile: Listed as 2200g. I did not have genuine mats so i do not know how they feel in terms of thickness of pile. From what i've read, I would imagine the genuine to be a deeper pile than these. These are not woefully thin pile though. Perfectly fine. You can manipulate/move the pile in it slightly if you know what i mean. But again, probably not as deep as the bmw genuine mats. Once installed though they look like a luxury mat. Overall: Happy. They match my matt black inserts on the dash and consoles well, they look good, feel good and add some detail that these earlier cars lack compared to newer cars. Being picky: A true black and maybe a slightly deeper pile preferred. I added an M badge I had lying around for those who like to adorn their car with badges. It looks too garish for me even though it matches the factory fit M sport badge on the steering wheel and gearknob. Needs to be left to true M cars rather than M sports imho.

I think from my point of view at least, i'm trading a superior oem mat with better pile for this mat which has the stitching. Its swings and roundabouts, you get the pile with oem but not the stitching and vice versa. Didnt want to mislead you into a purchase thinking these are better than oem thats all They havent moved a dot though, even without being screwed down!

The only mat I'd be worrying about moving is the passenger, mine seems to have a fold just before it starts to move upwards on the bulkhead if that makes sense
Going to get some of the felt stick pads and the velcro screw bits for the floor for them Looking to replace my mats soon though so might consider these as they look pretty good! |
