Coils going bad one after the next, normal?

3 different (old) coils needing replacement within 3 weeks. Running Cobb stg1. Granted I have been "testing" the car, with hard pulls each week which has been exposing bad ones.
1.) Is this typical that they go within a few days of each other like this, the way similar-age lightbulbs in the same room burn out within a few days?
2.) I'm using new Bosch OE 0221504470 coils, same as the old ones. Are there stronger or better coils for a tuned car?

Usually if one goes, the others aren't far behind. I think all of them within that short time frame is pretty convenient. Just change them all since they're not that expensive. OEM Bosch, or OEM Delphi are the most popular choices. There may be a new supplier that just started shipping out coils, I can't remember.

Eldor is the new manufacturer. No idea if they are better/worse than Bosch or Delphi, but I will confirm that the are more expensive

it is 100% normal , Just go ahead and change them all out . I recently just started getting then from advance auto lifetime warranty they die just bring it back for a new one. Much better than spending 90.00 for a stock coil form the dealer.

I would just change all the coils all at once..
Delphi or Eldor is pretty good. Gonna try it next.

What symptoms are you guys having that's making you change coil packs?

This summer I changed out my chargepipe, car didint feel snappy at all afterwards. Check for boost leaks. Did the vacuum lines and have all the necessary maintenance done (carbon cleaning, plugs, oil etc)

I'm running MHD tune but every time I shift aggressively the car hesitates to shift and stutters a bit. The power of the car is there but something keeps holding it back

I started reading up on how this could be related to coilpacks. I never changed them

Long as there's no "performance" coil for tunes, I'm sticking with Bosch. Bout 25 ea.

There's really only one reason, AFAIK, and it's misfires. Those shudders on hard pulls can be them - push it harder to get a CEL and see if a code threw.

That's pretty normal if they're all about the same age. I usually replace them all at once.

Fixed my problem. It's a so called shift bog

Any who I get rough idle here and there. I should replace the valve cover gasket and coilpacks soon. Dealer already replaced my injectors.

Visually inspected sparks and under the engine cover. Good so far

Update on this. The 3rd misfire wasn't the coil. I replaced all the plugs and wow everything is a lot smoother, or at least it seems to be. Going to pull a log and see if I'm actually getting a measurable benefit.

The way I see it, you would not only change one plug if it was misfiring, so why only change one coil?

Nowhere does it say you have to change all the coils (or plugs) if one is bad, it's just a better idea to do all of them.
