I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I drive a '12 328ix 6MT and recently upgraded from 17's squared setup to a 18's staggered setup. The current wheel/tire combo are still with OE spec and nothing crazy. After picking up the car (work was completed at Discount Tire) I noticed a very small vibration regardless of what speed I was traveling. Honestly I thought it was my car just settling after the new setup so I decided to give it another day. The next day passes and the vibration got worse. I drive back to Discount Tire and they fine tune the wheel balance and correct a wheel 'hop' from one of my rear tires. Now the car drives fine but the moment I exceed 60 mph the vibration comes back albeit not as bad as before. At this time I know the wheels and tires are dialed in. I'm just really stumped at this point. When I had my 17's there was zero issue but literally overnight I'm experiencing this vibration after moving up to the 18's. Is there anything else to consider? I'm really at a loss here. :/

Did you purchase the combo from DT? You should go back and have someone ride in the car with you. And maybe have them feel the steering wheel.
First things that come to mind is that the wheel bolts weren't tightened in a criss cross pattern, or that you're running spacers. But you should have a second pair of eyes at DT check out the balancing. I've had the same problem with ice in my wheels during a rough winter. Could be a weight on one of the wheels. |

Do you know if DT used a Hunter RoadForce Balancer? If not, we recommend you seek one. From past experience, we've solved the same problem from one of DT's customers. They experienced vibrations, once we balanced on our GSP9700 and fixed the problem, the customer was so ecstatic with our shop, that he bought us all lunch. We chuckled that DT couldn't properly balance.
Are the 18s a brand new set, or are they used? Sales @ UPWheels.com * Ph. 657.888.4UPW * FacebookDOTcom/UPWheels ![]() |

Yes, wheel and tire combo were purchased at DT. Today they ended up replacing the front tires with completely different brand tires and now the wheel vibration is 70% gone. I then had the rear tires also replaced with matching tires and the vibration is almost gone. It's still there but subtle. I still don't know why it's still vibrating, albeit not as severe.
