Too Much Toe In?

Hey folks. Just got coilovers installed, along with some new PSSs and an alignment. I wanted to spec my alignment for the first time, instead of just saying hey make it straight, and I think I screwed up.

I wanted -1 degree camber front, and -1.5 degree camber rear, which we got. Then I wanted .08 toe in for front, and .16 toe in for the rear, but he thought individual not total, so now I have about .16 total front and .3 total rear, toe in. Is that too much toe in given the camber?

Use is very spirited street driving.

As enlightening as that was, I still need the advice. Might I go to a track? Sure. Can I still drive twisty country roads up here in Westchester without ballistic speed? Yeah. What's so wrong with your life you feel the need to post this stuff? Some day your dreams will come true, my little buddy, I promise.

I just have too much respect for the competition process to be doing VERY spirited driving on public roads. Im not going to fight with you over the internet.

Come to NJMP on April 10th and put that new suspension to good use.

i posted a link. hope to see you there.

I, for one, don't need the validation some people do. Regardless, My original "use" comment was tongue and cheek. Enjoy your competition process, buddy.

You are within spec with that amount of toe-in. You shouldn't see any abnormal tire wear from street driving. I ended up with the same, or more, toe-in after my last alignment. Toe-in provides straight line stability while increasing drag and wear. If the car rotates/feels fine I wouldn't bother spending money to re-do the alignment until it's necessary.

Honestly, it all depends on what kind of driving experience you are aiming for and what mods you have. A decent neutral compromise would be to move to 0 front toe and a slight rear toe-in. However, there are no magic numbers. Feel how the car is driving (or get scientific and actually measure tire temperatures) and educate yourself on what alignment adjustments might help to improve the feel. Running toe-out might help with turn-in, but it too results in increased tire wear and drag. It may even induce twitchy feel and/or over-steer.
