Acceleration hesitation after software update
I recently took my 2011 N55 into the dealer for a software update since it was having odd idle RPM fluctuations with a warm start. As a solution, the dealer ended up updating the software. The good news is the idle fluctuations went away. The bad news is that I am now experiencing acceleration hesitation from 0-10mph. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, it sort of makes the car jerk. I don't find it to be a safety issue, but more of an annoyance.
I was just curious to see if anyone else on the forums has experienced this, and if they had a solution. |

Is it only when you let off the brake, before getting on the gas? I have what I call a lurching problem in parking lots and stop and go traffic. But if I tap the gas it smooths out. Have been living with it for the past 8 months. Maybe someone knows a solution, would be nice to fix. Like yours, it's not unsafe but an annoyance.

The hesitation/jerk normally happens when I let off the brake and when I first get on the gas. The minute I step on the gas it sort of stutters, then takes off. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, anyone riding in the car can feel it.

I have updated software, and my 2011 N55 does this also. I think it's just a super sensitive transition with tip in throttle response. I have learned to deal with it. After awhile you expect it, and tip the throttle in just a tad slower to compensate.

Mine just started doing the same thing and I have the AP3, I'm hoping it's nothing serious or due to running too rich on oxygen/too lean or something like that.
If anyone knows what this is about then please share with us your recommended remedy (s). Thanks

I have the exact same issue.
It doesn't happen every time i take off from a stop, but it would happen every time I drive at least once. If im stopped at a red light, then release the brake and start accelerating it will sometime lurch / jolt forward and back a few times before smoothing out and being fine. I have found with my DCT car, if I change to 2nd gear as soon as I feel it, it stops it from happening, but of course, that's not fun because then you are in 2nd gear at low speed :/

I have the lurching as well. i also have a small issue with 2nd to 3rd gear having a small kick to it when going at a low speed. I thought the Alpina flash would fix this issue but it hasn't.
Hopefully we find a fix the lurching in parking lots is annoying. |

Yes, my car does this too and I am on the last version of software. I am a 6AT. I don't remember it doing this when I first got the car, but it seems to be getting worse as the miles get put on. Maybe it is wear on the torque convertor or clutches. I am at 83k now.

Noticed the car will sometimes start in 1st gear, and sometimes in 2nd I THINK..... Starting in 1st, will cause the car to lunch forward super easy. Going to try to replicate it tonight. |

My car seems the opposite, I step on the gas normally and nothing happens, then all of a sudden it just jumps. It really seems like the software is getting confused or something.
Does anyone with this issue have the Alpina flash? Mine is still stock. |

same issue as well, learned to just deal with it. but it is super annoying when you let go off the brake pedal and try to accelerate only to be jerking back n fourth it seems like if i accelerate from 2nd gear, the problem is less prevalent.

Pulling out into traffic and taking off in traffic is quite annoying in my 335xi e90 08 at.. The way I would explain it is you either take off like a slug or a missile..... I just push the peddle slightly in first and wait until I'm out of 1st then once the car gets into 2nd and 3rd I take off super smooth and quick and traffic gets left behind.. But until then I'm full grandma mode.
