Radar detectors
Which one would you recommend for under $500? I have an older passport 8000?? and the false alarms are driving me nuts. Every construction message board I get a Ka signal or K band. When I beep my horn the laser goes off like crazy.
Is the 9500 any better??? Thanks |

Valentine 1
Valentine 1, I have been using mine now for over a year and it hasn't failed me on highways. To be honest with you thats the only time i feel any radar will work effectively. When you get to close to shopping centers and other super market type stores the thing goes nutso. The new passport goes by GPS so it can target out the shopping centers and what not but I know friends with Passport and they dont like the fact that they have no idea where the threat is while there driving on the highway. With the V1 you can tell exactly where it is and the arrows really are the best feature IMO.

also
And another plus is that you can send it back and they will update the technology for the life of the unit at a cost of 50 dollars (dont quote that price) but it is significantly cheaper than purchasing a new unit, and most other companies wont do this.

the price to upgrade the v1 is different depending on your serial number and the age of the unit. i love my v1 but i must say that the false alerts in the city are crazy. you can tell whats a false though because you will usually get multiple bogeys at once. on the highway, it is awesome. ive only had it for about a month and it has already saved me 2 times.

The Valentine One is the best at detecting radar and laser and it is still $50 cheaper than the Bel STi and $50-$100 cheaper than the Escort 9500i (red) and Escort 9500i (blue.)

To prove that I don't work for Valentine Research: If you live in Virginia or Washington D.C. where radar detectors are illegal, buy a Beltronics STi because it is the only detector that is invisible to the Spectre RDD radar detector detector. |
