The second one is the better of the 2. The higher the CFM the better. Although neither of those are going to be able to keep up with the air demands of even a small media blaster. Oil less air compressors aren't very good quality, belt driven are better.
I have a Chicago Pneumatic 2hp 26gal portable. It has an output of 7.1CFM at 90psi. My compressor has a hard time keeping up with heavy air demand tools like die grinders, air drills etc.. It could probably handle a 20lb pressurized media blaster for a few minutes at a time. I bought mine from aircompressorsdirect.com |

I'd go with the one with the bigger tank.
I think both compressors wont be able to keep up with the air requirements for blasting, but with a larger tank you'll get more time before you need to stop to let the compressor pump the pressure up again. Of course with a more powerful motor the compressor will be up to pressure faster. I dont know if the first one will be quiter. It has some sort of casing around the pump, but I dont know if that effectively muffles the sound.

They will both struggle. I would go with more horsepower. Since you only blast for seconds at a time I think the more powerful motor should recharge faster. Too bad you can't get more power with a bigger tank. Ultimately a 5hp 175psi is what you want, but they don't make them at the sub $200 price point.

I had the smaller one and it was terrible. My suggestion is to save up and buy a reputable brand air compressor and not the Harbor Freight junk. Its a good store for hand tools and small power tools, but the bigger stuff is junk.
