Filling UREA/DEF without screw on container
Hi guys,
Is it possible to fill a 2009 335D's UREA tanks without the container that screws onto the caps of the active and passive tanks? I tried to add some UREA to my moms 2009 335D and it kept spilling out, as if it was full. I know for a fact it is not full. Do I just need to poor very very slowly with a long skinny funnel when filling the tank? I wish the tank was the same as the X5 diesels. on a side note, the UREA tank was replaced by the dealer about a year ago under a factory recall. Thanks, Marco |

Yes it is but its messy...
Buy a factory urea refill bottle approx $20 and refill, once you have emptied the container and its screwed in fully mark the orientation top side. draw a box or a hole what ever you prefer and cut carefully. Now you have a container that you can use to refill the urea system at your convenience and you can buy big bottles of urea at a fraction of the cost... Ps keep the new refill bottle in a clean place you don't want to expose your def injection system to dirt, also rinse out your bottle with water after disconected to prevent the urea left in the bottle from crystallizing... Hope this answers your question..

Ive posted part numbers and links before but the short answer is all you need are: MB 10L jug (refillable) MB filler hose The filler hose fits the kruse connector so no mods needed. |

Awesome, I was doing exactly what you recommended but the screw and push style bottle, which I got from the VW dealer busted on me. My mom was over yesterday and I just thought I would fill her car. I made a giant mess and probably about a soda cans worth of UREA if that in the tank.
I will swing my by my local VW dealership, its much cheaper there and pick some bottles to have as spares. Thanks, -Marco Last edited by nobrakese28; 03-28-2016 at 10:14 AM.. |

I use this below: http://www.lislecorp.com/divisions/p...s/?product=606 Lisle 24680 Spill-free funnel. Lots of adapters. You can stop the flow at anytime. Works great for bleeding the cooling system while filling. I think I paid around $20 on Amazon a couple years ago. |

I've been running Peak for about 30k with no issues. I use a 5/16" hose and siphon it in, its slowish but works very well.

Swung by VW and bought two screw and push containers of ADblue for $10 a piece.
The top fill port swallowed them up, but the lower port, which I tried first barely took any. I plan on refilling them with PEAK BlueDEF and filling the top tank. Thanks for the help guys. |
