This is truly excellent work TDI. Thank you.

I was considering installing a Wagner, but now i've seen you do this, i am leaning towards the VRSF.

Is the fitting quite simple for the 335D, i.e if i show my installer this thread will he know what to do? Also would you recommend i go for this instead of the wagner?

P.S I am planning to upgrade the turbos, dpf delete and remap so the intercooler should be worth it.

Well thanks.

I think going with an IC that eliminates the OEM connections will result in better flow vs pressure drop. Even the Wagner site shows their BMW IC's that don't have the OEM connections flowing better than their versions that keep them.

However, it is more fussing around to get things connected. Which would mean more install $'s if you're paying someone to do it.

I don't have enough data to say if VRSF is better/worse than other IC's that do not have the OEM connections. And from what I saw when installing it, I think you could make about any of the 335i IC's work...

Just doing some research on the subject, I came across another informative site that's worth a read.

http://www.enginebasics.com/Advanced...20Test%20.html

They tested the cp-e 335i intercooler, in car, on the dyno as well.

Posting an update regarding a vendor who is selling a nice package utilizing this intercooler.

http://chiptuning.ca/#http://chiptun...log/2/54/55/53

There's also a nice installation guide on there.

The connection at the turbo (iaknown discussed this in another thread) is improved over what I did (I haven't had any issues with what I did, but this approach looks simpler and more robust).

Hey TDIwyse, do you have this particular intercooler/kit?
Im wondering if you remember what is:

Compressor outlet diameter(I know its not on your picture below but maybe you know exact diam for me)
Intercooler HOT side inlet diameter

Saw the installation instructions, and it seems that this set-up uses and original OEM upper red boost hose connection. Hmm... why would they do that?

Nope. There wasn't a kit available when I put this on my car. I cobbled together my own mix of parts to make it fit.

I don't have that info handy. I bet someone like iaknown can tell you exactly what it is.

Intercooler HOT side inlet diameter

From VRSF: "These intercoolers include a CAD designed end tank and feature a 2.75" inlet/outlet... "

The outside diameter of the connections are closer to 3".

I do like the new compression fitting thing iaknown came up with for this connection. But I've not had any problems with the OEM connection to the turbo. Although it sure seems like a goofy way to do that...

$550 seems a little steep for a few silicone couplers, no?

First off....Ha! Your new avatar Yozh lol

There will be a few more options posted there soon That is the "econo" option that is a bit cheaper. The next step is the hardpipe upgrade with the custom CNC piece....

That's Canadian bucks. So when you work it out and compare it to the only other option (Wagner) it's actually a great deal considering you're cutting out many of the stock connections, not to mention the larger pipe size

Thanks iaknown. I like the hard pipe upgrade with the custom CNC piece, that is a way to go. With the Canuck dollar being fairly cheap, if I would be below the 49th, I would be definitely snapping that IC kit. This exchange rate is preventing me from buying some nice suspension bits, keep waiting for oil to go up and canuck dollar to appreciate.
