BMW Assist Question
I recently just found out that BMW assist comes free for the first year! I leased my 330 in December and was never told that the first year was free, so to my knowledge its not activated yet? And I leased my car from a leasing company, not directly from a dealership. You guys know what I need to do get my free trial year.
Thanks in advance! |

Just push the button in the car and ask the person that answers.

After the first year it is $240/year for the safety plan and an additional $120 for the convenience plan. $30 per month!
If you're like me with my Suburban/Onstar, I realized that if you own a cellphone, it is pointless (with the possible exception of theft recovery).

I've heard so many different things about the fees that I don't even know what is free and what is not.
For the first year is everything, including, convenience free? I thought somewhere it was mentioned that after a certain date convenience wasn't free for the first year? |

everything is free. the only thing that will incur a charge after the FIRST try would be weather updates, traffic updates, and directions i beleive.

I subscribe to safety and convenience serivces from BMW assist. BMW's information is confusing on charges. The first year of BMW assist "safety" is free. BMW gives you a 45 free trial on the "convenience service" with X times to use traffic directions etc.
Bottom line, you pay for the convenience package and the first year of safety is free. Since I am paying for the convenience service, I use it regularly for traffic, directions, weather and the concierge. Especially useful on long trips. |

they do have useful information and unless you're browsing the internet while driving, i don't know how it really matters to know if that information is the same as on the web. is it worth the money? safety part of it, absolutely!! convenience-wise, it's based on your personal needs.

I find the convenience worth the $140 per year. If you subscribe, you do not pay per call. Some information suggests that but, I think that is during the 45 day trial period and if you exceed the free calls. I use it about every other day. Most of the info. is from the internet probably such as movie time, traffic, weather etc. However, if you are driving down the road and need information you have it. The concierge service is no different that those available through some credit card companies or other services. You can call the concierge from any phone so I use it when I am traveling on business.
Ex. Tomorrow I am taking a 500+ mile one way pleasure trip following two interstates. I call for traffic and weather in three/four cities along the way say at the beginning and 1/2 way point of the trip. If there is an accident, BMW assist will find you a route around the accident. If weather is a factor, I adjust the trip route, breaks etc. I use the concierge to send flowers (forgot to do so-last minute) or find a restaurant while I am out and about or just about anything. They stay on the line with you and are quite pleasant. Only thing, it may take some time when you hit the SOS button to get the concierge since it is not an emergancy and BMW assist puts you on hold for the concierge. Works for me! |
