Replacing my clutch/fw and rear main seal...please have a look
Other than the seal itself, is there anything else I need to replace? I've seen some other cars like the 325i have what looks like a plate or something. Do we have that on the 335i?
Do I need to drain the oil before taking the seal out? Thanks

Flywheels Bolts, Transmission Housing Bolts, Rear Main Seal, Pilot Bearing (If not included with your clutch kit). No need to drain the oil.

Carrier bearing is for the driveshaft assembly in between the two shafts.
The Pilot bearing resides inside the input shaft of the transmission. There will be no bearing inside of the flywheel as far as I'm aware. Good luck!

Oh, this is also known as the center support bearing, right? I've replaced this thing when I had my oil pan gasket replaced. I had the guibo replaced as well.

Also, what kind of sealant do I use for the rear main seal? Black RTV should suffice, right?

To add to my pilot bearing statement from earlier: The pilot bearing resides inside the input shaft of transmission, and the pilot bearing shaft on the N54's is pressed into the flywheel on the N55 this is backwards so bearing inside of the flywheel and the input shaft is the pilot bearing shaft. If yours does not come with the shaft you need to take it off an OEM dual mass, which is what I ended up having to do with my manual swap, as my smfw did not come with the shaft. The shaft needed to be pressed out of the flywheel, then press out the shaft with the smaller base out of what appeared to be an additional layer for to encompass the dual mass.
For the rear main seal you need to get a sealant for the seal and also make sure it is installed at the correct depth. I believe the newer rear main seals are thinner 8mm compared to 12mm. I would research that before attempting this as it is very important where the sealant is added and also that the depth is correct. Good luck!
