Anyone seen/know of these?
I'm looking for some form of dual cone intake (DCI) that'll sit behind my kidney grilles. I figured it might be hard to explain what I mean so I took to Photoshop and rendered up the image below to accurately show what I'm talking about. Anyone done this or is there a kit? Excuse my ignorance if this has been brought up before.

If you live in a desert, this may work but if not rain/snow/spit will be problems. Search for Mr5 intake

No problems here, I live in southern California so I'm not too worried about the elements, more worried about getting cooler air (I have BMS DCI at the moment)

And you would block part of the top radiator also ??? So if you have a stepped intercooler also blocks rad and now filters ??? I personally wouldn't relocate filters their as I'm sure there is some r&d behind Bmw building the car all grooves and openings for a reason

It's an interesting idea, but essentially you're just moving the filters ahead in the intake tract. You could achieve the same thing by leaving the filters in the same place and coming up with an intake snorkel. You'd still pull air from the same place but the filters would be better protected and easier to access for cleaning.

We offer that solution.
![]() You just need an M3/M4 first and Maximum PSI Intake : ) On a serious note. BQ has done some thorough intake testing. So far the new AFE momentum GT looks the promising. Closed sealed box intake, using stock snorkel. |

Cold Air is better
Quote:
just don't see the point of adding more hot air to an already hot engine from its turbo chargers adding additional heat. If you really want to do it right, add a better inner cooler, charge pipe and then add a more efficient CAI such as ECS's version or AFE's. Both are enclosed just like the OEM version but offer more cold air flow to the engine, which maximizes HP. |

thats going to be a looong intake. 4-5 feet of piping from the rear turbo. If is just for looks go for it but i don't see any performance gains from this. I'm installing VRSF inlets they look sick and the sounds is even better.

Thanks everyone for the info, I'm probably just gunna grab some air scoops to put behind the grilles. On a kind of unrelated note, has anyone custom made a box to house the BMS DCI? it wouldn't seem to difficult to make(3D printing or carbon fiber) and I'd be very willing to purchase.

Your going to need some thing like this to reroute the intakes to the front. Its somewhat of a similar concept to Mr.5 as mentioned above.
