E91 330d daily drive

Hi gents,

First step into BMW ownership and also automatic transmission.

Sold my A5 sportback for this e91 330d m sport. Black leather, iDrive, full BMWSH.

Having Thermostats changed, new gearbox sump with oil change, diff oil change and swirl flaps today!

I have some 15mm rear spacers to go on and matt black kidneys coming next week!

Hopefully ordering some eibach pro springs just to sort the front height. Am tempted when these run flats have had it to go new wheels. Some good inspiration from another e91 325d thread on here 👍🏻

Hi Liam,

Welcome to the dark side!

Sounds like you're doing the right bits and pieces to start with. Car looks great. Sparkling graphite is a lovely colour.

Enjoy it when it comes back from the garage. It should certainly feel different.

Thanks dude, hopefully should make the car feel even better and prevent a few bits going wrong!!

The car looked great when it was prepped but it had to be delivered to me so got abit dirty on the way which was frustrating but a proper clean at the weekend will help!!

It will be interesting to see how you fare with the BMW compared to the A5 sportback as I almost bought one before my 330d.

Any reason for the change and how do you like the 330d so far?

The A5 was a lovely lovely car! 2.0tdi, s line, 20" optional alloys, every optional extra going.





Bought from an Audi main dealer at a steal and sold 8 months later for exactly the same money with 10,000 more miles on the clock!

Only changed to pocket some of the money in it for my wedding later this year so looked for something a tad cheaper. Wanted a decent compromise between something newer still and looked good but with some decent performance to keep my entertained.

Always liked the tourings over the saloons and heard good things about the 330d

So shes come back from all the work done today.

A clean bill of health and some lovely compliments from a guy who works on BMWs every day.

The state of the gearbox oil makes me laugh at how BMW think it's 'lifelong' so that change should make a massive difference.

Need to take her for a long run to get a regeneration done on the DPF but old temp was 66 and it's now running...

Makes me laugh how if you don't research, ask and check my car would of run 30 colder than it should which will do the car no good at all!

Happy that it's all done and the garage even offers a custom mapping service with DPF removal 🙈

Wish they hadn't told me that as they are 1 minute drive away... We shall see...

Privacy glass is booked for this Friday which will make a difference to the appearance.

Looks like a nice car, just looking at your interior pic and I'm surprised there are no paddles on your steering wheel, that was a topic on another thread which a guy thought all 325-330d autos came with paddles.

No unfortunately!! I have the sports mode with manual on the gearstick but no paddles...

Frustrating but not necessary!

I've owned a similar specced e90 330d with auto no paddles, and now own a 335d e91 with paddles.

For the amount of time you use them, I hardly use mine in the 335d. It will live in D for 90% of the time.

Your right about the gearbox oil service I did both 330d,335d the difference it makes is massive mine cost £325 with a metal Land Rover sump for the 335d, the amount of people driving these cars with 100k plus on 5-10 year old oil is madness and gearbox failure or problems highly likely to come.

Both were leaking form the sump and both were under 100k on mileage.

Are you going to remap the car?

My 330d auto was to 295bhp can't remember torque but it was quick well worth it.

Lovely clean looking example of a car, good stuff! I barely waited a month after purchase to get a remap and absolutely love it, can't see the tyres lasting too long though..!
I wouldn't mind tints too at some point but I am spending freezing myself for a few months (taking it one month at a time!) before doing that.
Currently on 75k miles and want to get the trans and diff oil changed by 80k miles too, my previous 535d needed a new torque converter at 125k miles so I am hoping to avoid that fate as fitted was just under £1,300.

It's BMW's fault telling there customers the gearboxes are sealed for life, the fact is not only does the oil degrade over time but the plastic sumps and fill plugs in my 335d case start to weep/leak oil at quite low miles I bought my 335d e91 with 70k and that was leaking.

The 330d bought at 95k that was leaking at the sump.

its a massive important part to the car and should be cared for like wise.

Cracking car and when remapped with dpf delete are very quick I loved mine.
