BMW 2010 Coupe Interior Questions
Good afternoon everyone,
I searched the Canadian Region for what I'm about to ask but found nothing. I recently purchase an e92 and I just had a few questions about the gadgets or whatnot that I'm missing in the car. One being the clown nose, my rear view mirror doesn't have that and I know my car doesn't have an alarm but I've read where people don't have an alarm but still have the red clown nose. The other is the garage door opener buttons. I do not have that as well. And the cigarette light is not there. I'm assuming I don't have the smokers package. But as for the clown nose and garage door opener buttons, does anyone know why I don't have these? I'm guessing these weren't standard. But does anyone know what kind of package those would come with just so I know for future purchases. Also, if anyone would like to share any cool features of the car from the inside, that would be great as I am still learning the vehicle. Thanks everyone! |

My product knowledge by year has fallen away quite rapidly, but...
1) Not sure which model E92 that you have, but in both 335i and xi Canadian versions, the Universal remote (Homelink) as well as alarm were included in the Executive Package in 2010. I don't believe that it was a standalone option that year. (bmw.ca used locator currently has four 2010 E92;s for sale, and packages are listed on the summary page, and package contents are on the actual vehicle page - and no 328 coupes currently being offered for sale... and my memory is nowhere near that good, lol) 2) 2010 was right around the time when smoker's package was eliminated from standard equipment across the board, and became a special order item. Unsure of the clown's nose on non-alarm equipped cars - I do not recall a product bulletin to advise one way or the other. If you have a contact in sales at one of the dealerships near your, product guides (and all revisions throughout the model year) should be available electronically... at least they were 2.5 years ago when I still worked at one. |

You should check your trunk to see if you are prewired for an alarm system.
If you are then in that case you should have the clown nose. Do you have auto dim rearview and side mirrors? I wouldn't be surprised if previous owner or dealer did a quick swap of the rearview mirror. Regarding cigarette lighter, mine came with a push in lighter beside the ashtray and just a cigarette lighter socket plug for the one in the armrest. On the side note, I love those homelink buttons. Definitely a good feature as it eliminates the garage opener brick. |

EDIT: To the best of my knowledge, the clown nose is only there if you have factory alarm (302) OR alarm pre-wire (can't remember from top of my head..5GA I think?). I believe starting from 2009 (or 2008? not sure) BMW has deleted alarm pre-wire, so it's normal that you don't have it. As for cigarette lighter, for 2010+ it's now located under the passenger glove box.

Yes, there is a power outlet under the glove box, and a second one in the center console. There should also be a USB outlet in there that you can plug a micro USB drive into to play music.
