Rusted Rotors ?!??!?!!??!?!?
so yea I just dropped like $700 bucks for new rotors pads and sensors from WWW.ECSTUNING.COM the rotors are the GEOMET slotted and cross drilled and I sued AKEBONO pads and they work wicked pissa but........ the car has had some ISSUES lately ( meaning water pump, thermostat, battery, new key FOB, starter, valve cover, then valve cover gasket, also had a steering column/ ignition lockout[ELM-CAS software fix] and while its down im doin a VANOS cleanin, oil filter housing gasket, and a RB PCV Valve .
-the car has been sittin unfortunately for 2 months or so and now the rotors are rusted after it rained awhile ago my question is why is this happenin? and what can I do to prevent this from happenin in the future if the car has to sit a period of time?? Thanks for any input u guys have |

Keep it in the garage and avoid water!
...Iron rotors, you really can't do much about it. Just drive it off! |

You can't be serious asking this?
My rotors rust after I wash my car man. It clears up once you drive. If you're talking about the rotor hub, paint it and done. |

Slotted and cross drilled will obviously show more rust than stock rotors. This can't be a serious thread. Common sense guys

Stock rotors could be slotted, cross drilled, dimpled and combination of them but that has nothing to due with the rust so your premise is invalid. Again, is the elements content in the iron. Depending of the mix some will rust more and some less.

thanks guys ur help is appreciated I know it was a dumb question but I have never seen it one any decent set of rotors and I live in Boston so we see our fair share of rust up here but I wanted to know if there was an issue with the rotors from factory its all good tho now I know it will go away so no worries I have the worst luck with this car so I wouldn't have been shocked if they had some defect that's why I asked the community thanks again for easin my mind

I said stock rotor could be slotted, cross drilled, dimpled or combination. For example m3 has stock cross drill rotors. Now you premise: stock m3 cross drilled will rust more than aftermarket blank rotor for 335i because there is more metal exposed. Incorrect! As I said twice already it will depend of the elements content in the iron. How about that for common sense? |

I don't know where ur logic came from on this but there is less "metal" on the slotted and cross drilled than there is on the "blank" rotor( factory) im not sure if everyones getting confused or what but I thought it was a straight forward question I originally posted thanks for ur input tho |

thanks I figured it had to do with the metals used in production but it didn't happen right away after it rained that's why I was concerned the stock rotors rusted pretty bad from sittin for a couple weeks at the body shop and when I got the car back I needed all new rotors and pads cuz they rusted so bad the piston in the caliper seized and the pads literally flaked off when I pulled them apart that's why I worry bout stupid shit like rust
