Speedometer is off by 3 to 4mph.

I have noticed on my GPS while traveling that the speedometer is off by 3 to 4 mph. The issue was reinforced by setting the car to 40 and driving by a radar and having it clock me at 37 mph. Is there a way to correct this?

Did you change your wheels?

This is normal. There is a hidden menu you can access to get a digital display of the actual speed. All EU cars are off by a few MPH, this is done on purpose. We have like 100 threads on this.

Do i need equipment for this hidden menu? Or is it just accessed on the dashboard?

The digital speed read out in the cluster could still be off if not coded to show accurate speed. Basically is two diffents codes that need to be changed. Also, is not only issue with EU cars, Asian and domestic suffer from this too. Most speedometers are generous.

If you can't find local coder you can have it done remotely. You will need OBD2-USB cable, laptop and WIFI. Seek out for assistance in the regional's http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=46

Bmw speedo rear way higher than any other car I have seen. The way to fix this is by running a 25.6-26 inch diameter. The stock tires 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 are 25 inch in diameter. A 245/40/18 or a 275/35/18 is about 25.7 inches and make the speedo read perfect.

I guess you could this, or just code the digital speedo active and the digital speedo correction inactive. If you have a DCAN cable it's free to do.
