N55 135i engine burning oil
Just had the motor cleaned out, new intercooler put in, new vanoss system. Car boosts beautifully and pulls very hard. But the problem is that it's burning oil like crazy. Car does not idle properly, and it only smokes on the decel from high boost. And once and a blue moon, the car will cut power at 5grand. I burned through a litre of oil in 5 hours. Has anyone had a problem like this? I could really use your help before I start buying parts that I don't need. I have a feeling it might have something to do with my vacuum lines. Please help!

If it's cutting power, the ECU doesn't like something. Start by hooking up a computer to check codes.
Poor idle can be caused by an intake air leak. In general, smoke on decel is usually a sign of oil being pulled past the valve guides due to wear and the high vacuum in the intake manifold. BUT... if the valvetronic is working there shouldn't be much if any vacuum in the intake manifold, since the valve lift is doing the throttle control. Of course, it could also be that the PCV system isn't hooked up right, and any blow-by during boost is building up in the crankcase, and only gets sucked out when you're off the throttle. Normally a small amount of blow-by would get sucked right back into the intake and burned along with the huge volumes of air and fuel and you'd never notice it. If it builds up and gets sucked in with the throttle closed it'll be noticed. If it didn't do this before and does it after these changes, someone made a mistake. Double check the work, and ask the computer what's wrong. |

Okay , so the Valvetronic Servo Motor and Eccentric Shaft were replaced originally due to a DTC and bad idle. Then it pulled a timing related code and we replaced the Vanos Solenoids. We smoked tested it to check for leaks and had one at an intercooler pipe. Installed a new front mount intercooler with hard pipes.
Now the vehicle wont hold idle and wont stay running unkless you feather the gas pedal when you start the vehicle. It also blows smoke ( oil ) after coming out of boost on the decel ( When vacuum should be at its highest. I took it to a shop and they said the charge pipe is cracked (not sure how I missed that ) and that the Injen intake is loose at the turbo inlet ( Clamp is maxed ) Will either of those issues cause my problems? So I had them install a Evolution Raceworks charge pipe and it still runs the same and now I am going to install then factory Air intake system as they said that is the other issue. Any advise would be amazing. |

try doing a reset of the adaptations. there's mix opinions whether this easter egg really exists but we've had some techs verify this. just google the procedure.
I've done this before and have noticed the car has adapted to my driving style i.e. throttle position keep us posted. |
