I swore I wouldn't, but so it begins

My other two BMW's have mods, tunes ect but I swore I wasn't going to mod my wife's (newer to us) 2011 335i...but I can't hold back! So, JB4 with flex fuel, downpipe, and new spark plugs and coils are going in the sucker this week. A VRSF intercooler will cometh soon enough.

I'm really looking forward to using the hijack JB4 boost gauge. This N55 is so damn slow compared to my N54 I swear it must have a boost leak. We'll see.

Lets see, no info on why you think it's a boost leak other than its slower than your N54. No logs posted, no actual testing done. Either you are troll or haven't learned anything from your N54...

Where's the chargepipe ?
That should go in with the JB4

If you are in S. Fl, the FMIC would come before the down pipe.

Why so serious? That's why it's a guess at this point- can't run logs until the JB4 is installed!

I haven't done testing yet other than it feels painfully slow, the acceleration is pretty flat with no hit from the turbo, and it reminds me of two different times I got my car back from a shop and it felt lethargic with no kick from the turbo...ended up being from the mechanic accidentally breaking the fitting to a vacuum canister and another a charge pipe.

Yes, these things will come. However, plenty of benefit to be received from JB4, DP, and magic corn juice for the time being.

I haven't really researched chargepipes yet and I'm on the fence about which IC- 5er or 7er VRSF. I really want to go with the 7er but am hesitant about cutting, being that I just purchased and expensive 3rd party warranty and would like to avoid the scrutiny should it be field reviewed.

Well then that is your problem. Comparing a stock N55 to a tuned N54. Of course it will feel slow.

Are they both the same type of trans? An auto trans is gonna take a decent loss in power compared to 6spd. if not then they should be about the same stock for stock. I've seen dyno's of stock N55 vs stock N54 and they were close, some the N55 made higher numbers, others the N54. But they were always within ~10 hp/tq.

So yeah they should feel pretty similar. However if your coming from a modded N54 I doubt you remember what your stock n54 felt like. You'd probably feel the same way if you went back to a stock n54.

Stock for stock, the E90 N55 and N54 have nearly identical performance. The newer F30/F32 N55s are much faster than the N54 stock.

Same trans and both E93. Map 0 on the N54 with just a DP is fairly close to stock, but even with a mental adjustment there is a good distance between the two. Leaning heavily towards a boost leak.
