Would installing after market wheels void BMW warranty?

I'm thinking of getting some wheels and may be H&R spring but I'm afraid that it would void the warranty. Is it true?

sure...

it could if you use some whacky offset. They would still need to prove it, but nonetheless it is "possible". Nothing just voids the warranty. The warranty could be voided on a specific part. For example replacing springs and wheels could theoretically "void" the warranty of the entire suspension.

what if i just want to replace the wheels only. I'm thinking of getting the 19" bbs lm replicas or the beyern mesh wheels. Would replacing them void any part of the warranty? Does anyone have concrete information on this?

No it will not. That's about as concrete as it gets.

Your warranty can't be voided from modifications but they CAN deny claims if the part that failed was related to that modified part.

Meaning if you get larger wheels with a smaller sidewall and your shock/strut fails prematurely they CAN blame your wheels on the defective part and decide not to warranty the claim.

They'd only deny a claim that was damage related to your mod.

If your wiper motor fails, it's covered.

If your 22" chome spinners damage the wheel well, it's not.

a mechanic told me that installing aftermarket wheels will affect the transmission and void the warranty if the transmission goes back. Is this true? I'm not planning to put anything with aggressive offsets on my car. Thanks.

question. if you have a lease i heard you "might" be able to return the car with aftermarket tires.

when you return a lease the dealer just wants the car back in a condition which they can sell easily right?

so if you return with oem csl or bbs ch dealer will take it as is with toyo tires lets say?

Your mechanic is a dumbass douchebag, who knows nothing and has no experience with aftermarket parts.

A 19" wheel with smaller tires, is going to be damn close to the exact same size as stock 18's. Not to mention most of them are lighter. And if BMW offers 17", 18", and 19" wheels how would aftermarket 19" wheels make a difference?

Hence why your mechanic knows nothing, and you should no longer follow any of his advice.

My last vehicle was a truck. Lowered within the first 500 miles, with 17"s. I eventually moved up to 20" for the last 3 years of ownership. I always heard, but took it with a grain of salt about them eating up my brakes and hurting tranny's, etc, etc. My brakes were still good after 85K miles, and no transmission problems.

Sure the two aren't the same, but all the nonsense is told on all accounts.

If you're not comfortable going to aftermarket wheels don't, you obviously don't seem like you are. If it's going to be something your stressing about everyday instead of enjoying them, just stick with where you're at.
