e90 8/2005 build looking to upgrade steering wheel

I have a Sept build 2005 E90 automatic and would like to upgrade the non-flappy paddle steering wheel to an M3 DCT steering wheel.

After reading several threads on the forum about the upgrade I contacted a local independent whom are willing to do the upgrade but would only do it if they sourced the parts new from BMW. Explaining that they would need to source the parts as a steering wheel from eBay may not be compatible and that only certain wheels are compatible with the year of my car?

I was hoping that any e90 DCT M3 wheel would be suitable, and as such I could purchase a second-hand item on eBay for a fraction of the new cost.

Can anyone please clear this issue up? What parts do I need?

ive done it before and you need steering wheel with paddles and you need custom wiring which only a few people on here know how to do it. theres a thread on here somewhere called retrofit flappy paddles

So all e90 M3 wheels should be compatible, I don't need to check the part number? I am concerned only certain wheels from certain production years would fit my car.
