What do you guys use to clean the stickness off? My interior trim is so sticky that dust and crap is embedded in it and I can't get it out. Not the soft touch stuff on the dashboard but the plastic or whatever on the center console. The sides next to the seats are just sticky and nasty and nothing seems to take it off.

Sticky as in something was spilled on it, or sticky as in the rubberized coating on top of the plastic is failing? Do you have a picture?

My radio buttons are sticky, bought car used came this way most Likley COFFIE/SODA , I have tried the isopropanol spry with a tooth brush worked it in , quickly pushing buttons till moving freely, dried with cold air, tried this a couple of times buttons work for a day then go back to sticking. Not to comfortable with removing head unit any other sugestions??????

Although my soft touch trim is sticky also, I am just replacing each piece as it gets bad.

This is the hard plastic on the center console, nothing was spilled on it. You can see all the lint and stuff stuck to it. I've tried various cleaners but the towel just sticks to the surface and even more lint gets deposited.

The top edge is much darker looking... I assume this is the original finish? It looks like something is either on the rest of the piece making it look awful, or else the material is failing all together and needs to be replaced.

Since it feels sticky, and you say it is supposed to be hard plastic, it sounds like something may have been applied to the trim. Can you test a solvent like mineral spirits on a cotton ball in an inconspicuous area and see if it removes anything from the surface?

I will try some alcohol on it, will rubbing alcohol work?

I think that it is a buildup of interior cleaners, maybe something nasty like armour all that the previous owner sprayed down there and it congealed and bonded to the plastic in the florida heat.

Either Goo-Gone (be careful as it WILL strip color) or denatured alcohol will definitely do the needful.

I've got a can of denatured alcohol, is this safe to use on plastics?

My radio knobs were sticky also. I removed both of them and put them in a small container with some PineSol and warm water and let them soak. Took them out an hour or so later, rinsed them off, and air dried and so far so good. I thought the plastic was deteriorating, but I guess it was some funky coating or something.

we have used

1Z einszett Cockpit Premium spray it on a mf towel and gently wipe, it should do the trick.

Kenotek Interior Cleaner
Nanolex Interior Cleaner would also work well.
