Voice Command Listing for the E90
Does anyone have a list of all the voice commands that can be recognized? I saw an official BMW publication for the e60 (5 series) but can't find one for the e90.
Thanks |

I don't know if you can find them online but they are in the owner's manual page 222.

This is probably one of the most useful commands.

I have tried this, but dial by name does not work for me. I was thinking that I can store numbers & their name independently of phone address book. But apparently cannot.
Is this feature possible only when ur blueetooth phone transfers address book to car ?? Can someone confirm ?? My phone, SE P910i, pairs but no phone book entry is synched.. |

It works from the phonebook downloaded from your phone, so you will need a phone that can transfer successfully.
It does not use voice tags, so to make the most of this feature, you will need to reorganise your phonebook to make all of the names "Speakable". |

What does this mean, how do you make all of your phonebook "Speakable", what is "Speakable" |

Voice dial by name literally looks at each phonebook entry, figures out how it would sound, and compares your voice to that to find the best match.
Because of the way various phones (and Outlook which I sync my phone contacts with) enter, format, display and categorise by number type (Mobile, Home, Work etc..), you can end up with numbers which are not "Pronouncable". When you were simply reading the display on your phone, this didn't matter as you know what you meant when you typed it in. An additional limitation of phonebook transfer is that it does not identify the type of number being called, so if you have Home, Work and Mobile numbers stored for "John Smith", stored as a single contact in Outlook, all will transfer just as "John Smith". Initially, I stared putting suffixes sufh as "Hm" or "Mb" after the name. Try saying that to the voice command!" Hence I re-wrote my phonebook in a way which all of the entries could be read aloud "normally". Took a little while, but the result is great. (Edited for spelling and removed a fragment of meaningless text) Last edited by London320d; 03-10-2006 at 07:50 AM.. |
