About to take the plunge into this but having a hard time finding a video with the remainder being stock. I want to power gains but not the rasp. Can someone help a brother out?

if all you are changing is the DP and you have a stock exhaust there is no rasp. If you have a PE then there might be drone, but no rasp.

I've heard rasp on a few different videos, but would like to hear what it sounds like with the resonators. I just want to make one purchase and have hopefully one trip to the exhaust shop.

I have a DP with resonators but I have the PE mod. Like weehe said, there is no drone or rasp with the stock exhaust + DP. I would not go on what you've heard in videos. It is best to hear it in person then form an opinion from there.

Johnny boost, I hope you're right because I've not found video of a catless set up yet that I would want to daily drive. A lot of them end up sounding like a diesel to be honest. At least from the videos I've seen. The idle and part throttle just seems to sound awful.

You are probably referring to cold start videos. With the DP, the car does sound like a diesel during cold starts but once it's warmed up, it's hardly louder than stock DP and the sound is beautiful. Make sure you guys are watching N55 videos and not N54. The N54 definitely has rasp.

Performance is a night and day difference. The stock cats are the main source of restriction for these cars. Once you have felt the car with the DP, it will be very difficult to put the stock one back on.

here you go. my current setup is catless dp+ secondary cats still in place + vibrant resonators ( where H pipe was) + bmw performance exhaust. Honestly i dont like how it sounds, so will take resonators out and put h pipe back. I think you only need resonators if you remove the secondary cats .

Sounds like the AR is the better sounding of the two. In my opinion anyway.

No worries man..I think if you are just getting catless dp and are sticking to stock exhaust you wont have any rasp / drone. People who have noticed rasp / drone are ones that have catless dp + no secondary cats and bmw pe.

Are you planning on keeping your secondary cats? I know they help calm the noise level but not sure how much they help in getting rid of drone and rasp. Also where you planning on placing your vibrant resonators? Either you will have to delete the H pipe or secondary cats .

I was planning on keeping the secondary cats, and at this point I'm thinking I just do the downpipe and see how it sounds to me. I can always add the resonators later.

Yeah good idea. Don't do what I did by installing the resonators right away.... now i have to pay again to take them out lol

Also, by keeping the secondary cats, you will have less smell too!

Secondary cats are only on Xdrive cars right? Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, as far as I know but only on E series . I know a buddy who has a F30 335 xdrive and he doesn't have secondary cats in his car.
