Looking for some quick inputs to see if this will work
Hi folks,
After skimming through this thread I came up with this idea, would it work? Current setup (E92): HU: Stock HiFi, not recoded Under seat woofers: Stock Front: Unknown aftermarket (right speaker broken), 1-way Rear: Unknown aftermarket DSP: Helix DSP Sub: Sundown X12 w/ SAZ-1200D Amp: Pioneer GM-D8604 The HU feeds the 4 signals to the DSP. The DSP splits out the sub signal to the sub, and applies crossovers to the rear and front speakers. The front / underseat woofer speakers are connected as per stock, i.e. I can't set a proper crossover for either of them. I'm thinking of doing this, will that work? 1) Replace front door speakers with Focal 100KRS components (already have them, I also have the A pillar mounts purchased) 2) Replace rear speakers with stock (as the current ones are not properly mounted) 3) Run front L/R components off 2 channels 4) Run under seat woofers off 2 channels 5) Run rear speakers off HU Advantages:
Disadvantages:

When you say Helix DSP do you mean a 82dsp
When you say Helix DSP do you mean a 82dsp
When you say stock Hi Fi do you mean the one with and amp and tweeters?(because I understand the stock option in Europe means the stereo system with no tweeters and amp) |

You have to supply amplifiers for that
You have to supply amplifiers to use that
it has none. Its unclear what you are using for and amp from your equipment list. That is a standlalone dsp meant to be used with amps. I see you listed a sub amp for a sub but no amp for doors and floors unless I am missing something. Also don't mix the terminology as you have what is called the stereo system. Ok pioneer 4 channel seems like a mismatch to run a 600 dollar dsp against a 200 dollar amp. Last edited by ctuna; 05-22-2016 at 10:39 PM.. |

All of the gear listed is already installed and in use. The 4 channel amp powers all the speakers in the car (with front and underseat woofers in stock configuration i.e. sharing the same channels), except the sub. So the question is if I can move from the current setup to instead of amping the rear speakers, have the HU drive those, and amp the underseat woofers with the other 2 channels on the 4 channel amp. From HU > DSP DSP > 4-channel amp, 2ch > Front L/R w/ underseat woofers in stock config DSP > 4-channel amp, 2ch > Rear L/R DSP > Sub amp To HU > DSP DSP > 4-channel amp, 2ch > Front L/R components (passive crossover included w/ components for the tweeters in the pillars) DSP > 4-channel amp, 2ch > Front L/R underseat woofers DSP > Sub amp HU rear channels > Rear L/R edit: What has the price of the amp got to do with anything? It outputs 4x100W real RMS with low distorsion and has a good price. |

It should work
It should work
when they say something like 2000 watts max and come in at a low price I am suspicious . Helix standalone has both high leve and low level inputs better to separate the parallel connection between the doors and the floors and run them on one amp channel each. and upgrade the under seats. Under seats are only 6.5 inch in the base system. Last edited by ctuna; 05-22-2016 at 11:03 PM.. |
