Z435i E50 FBO vs C6 Z06 Stock Dyno

I own both of these cars and I figured that I would share some recent dyno results. My Z06 is currently in the process of an engine build and the dyno from my Z06 is 100% stock and is my baseline. My Z4 is FBO on E50 and tuned by BuraQ.

I am certainly not dogging the numbers from my Z4. It does great until about 5k. Both the N54 and the LS7 are fantastic engines.

Thanks for sharing.
Those two engines are my favorite engines for sure.

Interesting the LS7 put down 480whp, those are usually in the 450-460 range.

I have seen one of you post about handling of z4. Honestly I was surprised when I saw it because this thing handles very well with KW V3 in most aggressive settings, camber plates and 275 pss. Why didn't you think to put an LSD and increase the traction ?

upgraded turbo would help bring the graph lines closer in comparison if you wanted a little more up top. All stockers run out of steam when you start requesting airflow beyond their means. Z06 looks healthy by the way!! Nice stable you have there!!

480whp stock eh? You're off by about 30-40whp on the Z06.

If you knew what you were talking about then you would know that the 2011 Z06 puts down more power than any other year because of the Xpipe. You can also tell that it hasn't been tuned because of the AFR. I certainly don't have to prove anything to you, but here are my 3 baseline runs before my engine build starts. Don't be jealous.

I will show you what a built Z06 really looks like in about a month.

Numbers for the Z06 are not because of the magic X pipe. They are inflated because you're using STD correction factor on it. Most N/A cars use SAE and turbo cars use STD. STD correction factors artificially inflate numbers on naturally aspirated cars.

Love the LS7.

Close. Basically everyone outside the BMW community uses SAE. The ricers used to all use STD but now that most imports make serious power they all use SAE too.

BMW community is using STD so people can try to feel cool about how much power their bolt on cars make.

Either way grats on the c6z, don't use std next time because there is no way your stock c6z is making 480 whp, X-pipe or not.

Why not run e60 MAP? You'll be about 460whp.... Nice comparison though.

That hp seems a little low for a FBO Z4 custom tuned on E50... Does it have turbo inlets and outlets? Then on the other hand, the Z06 seem a little inflated... Were the cars tested on the same dyno, on the same day, with the same weather? If not, then this comparison is almost pointless.

We have to live with the confounding factors and accept these near approximations, which are commonplace here. Despite the dyno results herein, I think many of us are happier after running a Zo6, which is why it's difficult for us to see value in this comparison. I agree it would be nice not to have these variables.

BQ is making close to 420 whp on 93 now... I believe this Z4 predates inlets.

My brother was enjoying his C6Z when until he dropped a valve while cruising. Luckily Chevy was aware of some assembly error and gave him a brand new motor. I love those cars. Now he has a GTR and the C6Z awaiting sale lol.

nice graphs.

Always funny when people complain about dyno numbers being too high or too low... No dyno is going to read the same so there is always going to be variances.

Finally got my car done, at least for now. I understand that this is not N54 related but i thought that I would share, since I have spent the last 4 years in 2 different N54 cars. Here is my dyno after my Z06 N/A build and I am almost done. In the next few weeks I plan to switch from the stock intake manifold to an aftermarket, which will add another 25rwhp. In about 2 months she is going to get bottle fed with a 100 or 125 shot of N2O which will bump the rwhp to around 700 and tq to about 650.

Awesome. The LS7 is so corked from the factory. I was going to do a Livernois H/C/I package when I was in the market for a C6Z. $10,000.00 installed and tuned on their dyno. 590-615rwhp all motor.... They are absolute rockets above 550rwhp and 40mph.

LOL @ the people and their dyno graphs and correction factors.

If people really wanted to show max numbers, actually, NVM.... Not saying anything more.

Nice power/TQ from that build. It will pull like a freight train. Probably put bus lengths on most cars in the 650rwhp range too....

Numbers offer a good baseline. Most C6 Z06 make about 450-460 stock. Mine is at 490WHP with it's current mods. Intake Heads (stock cam) Tune, ZR1 Exhaust. Most of these mods aren't big power adders since I took out the biggest mod which was the big cam. With that I was at 560WHP on the same dyno, same mods. I hate talking dyno numbers though as it really depends on the dyno, conditions and tuning. I decided to leave it alone for now but I might add an intake manifold and maybe switch the cam down the road.

Thanks. About $8,500 including parts, labor and tuning.

I am getting ready to drop another $3,500 on a Nitrous setup and I will probably be done.

Can't tell you how many times I've said that! Lol

Congrats on the z06
