Help with heat related fuel gauge problem.
So the offending car is a 2009 335i xDrive.
I saw this problem last summer when it was hot out, but I haven't seen it since mid September of 2015. When the car sits in the hot sun, after I start it up the fuel gauge will read empty. When shutting the car off the gauge will go past empty. Once it is cooled off outside when I restart the car it will go back to normal. I did not see the issue all fall winter and spring, but it is back now. Very annoying and no one I have talked to has any clue. The readout that says how many miles I have left with the current tank of fuel is still correct. Only seems to happen when the car sits in the hot sun. Anyone have any idea that could point me in the right direction, I'm lost on this one. I mentioned it to my indy repair shop and they looked at me like I was nuts and had no suggestions. I've done some searching and found nothing related to heat and fuel gauges. Thanks |
