EGR Odds and Ends

In our e90post tradition of having content thrown around everywhere, here is another thread. Did not want to dilute other threads with my junk, but just in case anyone is interested, here are some odds and ends.

Recently, one of the local folks asked me if I had measurements for the EGR block off on the intake side. I did not, but had a spare EGR cooler connection piece from the EGR valve kicking around. Decided to measure that. To save time someone taking their EGR off to take measurements to make a block off plate, I thought this may be useful. I do not know what is available out there, possibly better solutions exist. This thin piece could go between the EGR and the connection piece that hooks up to the EGR cooler.

Measurements are not exact but the best I could do with a caliper. All measurements are in millimeters. No angles are measured.

Here is the file:

Long time ago a very nice gentleman by the name of Bodacious (screen name) was kind enough to give me a spare EGR. Eventually, I was able to recover it from a machine shop that was supposed to port it for me and another nice gentleman did an even better job. In this case, I have dremeled the guts and to much swearing and groaning that I have butchered it, one very good machine shop guy told me to leave it with him for a day and pick it up next day. A bottle of good whiskey later, here we are. He has machined some plugs and pressed them in. Then cleaned it all up. Interestingly, inner diameters are slightly different between the cooler and manifold sides of the stock EGR. Thankfully, we have some great alternatives these days in a form of AARodriguez race pipe. But, just in case someone finds a spare EGR for cheap, this may give you some ideas on how to modify it.

PS: marks on the aluminum is from ultrasonic cleaning. I have since polished it all.
