[Advice] First BMW - 2008 335xi Coupe - 50k miles for 17k
Hello!
Long time lurker, first time poster. Found a good deal (I think) on a private seller 2008 e92 with 50k miles, sports package, premium package, navigation, cold weather, comfort access, almost fully loaded. Asking $18 but negotiated down to $17k. (midwest) Water pump was replaced. Clean carfax. Comes with 75% tread sport 18" summer and 50% tread winter 17" tire sets. Good maintenance records. Am I missing anything? Should I pull the trigger at this price? What should I have done once I buy it? Considering just doing the 52.5k mile maintenance recommended and calling it a day until 60k. Might install angel eyes, aero bumper, and back up cam once I buy it as well, along with eventually a conservative JB4 tune. I heard the xi suspension might need some upgrades but it seemed to drive great on my test drive stock so maybe I'll skip that for now. (at least compared to my 2007 Acura RL) I can buy a 3yr/36k mile extended warranty from my credit union for $3.5k extra. It seems like I'd be better off keeping the $3.5k saved for any repairs/maintenance expenses. Any recommendation there? (I heard turbos can cost 6k) Excited to join the BMW family, thanks for your help! Last edited by danperson1; 06-27-2016 at 03:19 PM.. |

Also, I didn't realize how impressed everyone is with the BMW nameplate. I bought because of it's rave reviews, not because I wanted the brand prestige necessarily. However everyone so far has been immediately impressed with it because "its a BMW" so that's pretty neat too. |

If you don't find any codes you might as well get the oil changed and drive it like you stole it. Also go slow on engine mods......you want to make sure each one is accepted by the car and if it isn't it is much easier to diagnose when you only have to look in one place. |
